The Chinese yuan (currency code: CNY) or more precisely, the
renminbi (人民币; people's currency), is the official currency of the People's Republic of China.
Each yuan is comprised of 10 jiao (角) and each jiao can be further subdivided to 10 fen (分) each.
The symbol for the yuan is ¥ which it shares with the Japanese yen. It is known by different names in
different parts of China. It is referred to as tugreg (Inner Mongolia), gor (Tibet), xelq puli
(Xinjiang), etc.
