The Thai baht (currency code: THB) is the official currency of Thailand.
Each baht (บาท) is comprised of 100 satang (สตางค์) and is represented by the symbol ฿.
The baht was originally a unit of mass equivalent to one quarter of a tael of silver. The term might have come from the
Old Khmer word pāda (for foot, quarter) which is derived from the Sanskrit word for foot,
pādaḥ. (Since quadrupeds have four feet, one foot represented a quarter of the animal.)
